A 60-year-old driver and his conductor narrowly escaped death after armed robbers opened fire on their cargo truck on the Bibiani–Goaso road at Kwame Dwuma Sereso in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
According to an eyewitness, Sampson Dwumah, the injured driver and conductor were rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026.
The attack comes after a bus carrying members of Berekum Chelsea was also attacked along the Ahyiresu-Kwame Dwumor Sreso (KDS) in the Nyinahin District, an incident which led to the death of their striker, Dominic Frimpong, on Sunday, April 12, 2026, while travelling from Samreboi to Berekum.

In the latest attack, the victim, Mohammed Yakubu, and his mate were transporting goods in a blue-black Mitsubishi cargo truck with registration number AW 621-12 from Akodie to Kumasi when the incident occurred.
According to him, armed robbers blocked the road at Kwame Dwuma Sereso and opened fire on the vehicle, hitting him in the abdomen as well as injuring his conductor.
Meanwhile, residents say the recurring armed robbery attacks have left them in fear, calling on the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to intensify police visibility along the stretch to help curb the incidents.
