A land dispute at Akwatia Line in the Ashanti Region turned deadly on Wednesday, April 1, leaving one person dead and two others injured.
According to reports, a private developer claiming ownership of the land, which is currently under litigation, arrived at the site with police personnel and began demolishing structures.

Residents said they received no prior notice, leading to the sudden displacement of hundreds of people.
While the residents admit they are not the legal owners of the land, they insist that with the case still before the courts, no party has the authority to carry out demolitions, especially without proper notification.
Many of those affected report that their homes and belongings were destroyed, prompting urgent appeals to the government and relevant authorities for compensation and intervention.

The Manhyia District Police Command has since moved in to restore calm and confirmed the arrest of one suspect. Authorities have assured the public of a thorough investigation into the incident.
