Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak, has dismissed a recent poll by Global InfoAnalytics, which projects a lead for Johnson Asiedu Nketia in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2028 flagbearer race.
He described the poll as unrealistic, arguing that the party is still in the process of reorganisation and has not yet elected delegates for its upcoming presidential primary.
Speaking to Citi News, Mr Mubarak questioned the basis of the survey and called on the polling firm to be transparent about its methodology and sources of funding.
“First of all, the NDC is in a process of reorganising. So we don’t even have delegates. And if you tell us you’ve spoken to NDC delegates and that this is what they are saying, that cannot be the reality on the ground,” he said.
Mr. Mubarak also alleged that the polls conducted by the firm are skewed, insisting they will not influence the outcome of the party’s internal decision-making.
He expressed confidence that NDC delegates are discerning and will make choices based on competence, loyalty, and unifying leadership qualities when the time comes to elect a flagbearer.
“The majority of NDC delegates are very, very discerning. When that time comes, and the NDC is going to elect a flagbearer, we’re not only going to be looking for a flagbearer who is competent and well-prepared, but also someone who is a thoroughbred party person, who has paid his dues, can unite the party, and can also get us across the 50% plus one,” he added.
The poll, shared by the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, on Monday, April 13, 2026, indicates that National Chairman Asiedu Nketia continues to lead in a “top-of-the-mind” baseline survey of the party’s potential flagbearer race.
In the poll, Asiedu Nketia secured 29 per cent support, followed by Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson with 19 per cent, while Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu polled 11 per cent. Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang recorded 8 per cent each.
