The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers has directed all its members across the country to comply fully with the suspension of the recently proposed increase in sachet water prices, effectively restoring the previous pricing regime.
The directive follows growing public concern over the planned price adjustment, which had sparked discussions among consumers, retailers, and stakeholders within the water production value chain.
Sachet water, widely consumed across Ghana as an affordable source of drinking water, remains a critical commodity for households, making any price changes particularly sensitive.
The association announced the decision after a high-level meeting between the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, and representatives of the Plastic Manufacturers Association on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
The engagement is understood to have focused on concerns about rising production costs, the impact of price increases on consumers, and the need to maintain stability in the market while broader consultations continue.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, the president of the association, Magnus Nunoo, emphasised the importance of adherence to the directive and urged all producers and distributors to immediately revert to the old prices in the interest of fairness and consumer protection.
“Effective immediately, sachet water price reverses to its original price. The prices as they were before stand, and the new price has been officially reversed to the old price. We call on all our members who sold water at the new price to revert to the old one.”
