The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested four suspects and recovered 17 stolen motorbikes following a special anti-robbery operation targeting criminal activities across the region.
According to a police statement issued on Thursday, July 23, the suspects have been identified as Yusif Mohammed Ali, Abdulai Ibrahim, Abubakar Abdul Rashid, and Mustapha Abdul Aziz Posy.
The police noted that the individuals were arrested between July 11 and July 15 at various locations, including Wa, Charia, and Hamile.
Investigators say the suspects confessed to their involvement in the theft and sale of motorbikes and are assisting with ongoing investigations.
The police also disclosed that investigations have already led to the arrest of four individuals who allegedly purchased some of the stolen motorbikes. The suspects have been remanded by the Wa Circuit Court and are expected to reappear before the court on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
The Regional Police Command further urged owners of stolen motorbikes to report to the District Police Headquarters with valid ownership documents to facilitate the retrieval of their property.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and appealed to the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support the fight against crime.
