The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Koduah, has raised concerns about the welfare of the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, after he was not brought to court for proceedings on his bail application.

Speaking to the media after a hearing at the High Court in Accra on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Mr. Koduah noted that the party was worried about Abronye’s current health status, stressing that his absence from court was troubling.

“Unfortunately, they didn’t bring Chairman Abronye to the court and we are very worried as to his current health status because we did not see him. It is something we want to be put on record that we came to the court and we did not see our Chairman at the court today. Let us see how tomorrow goes,” he said.

His comments come amid ongoing legal proceedings involving Abronye DC, who is currently in custody facing charges including offensive conduct conducive to breach of the peace and publication of false news.

The High Court adjourned the hearing of Abronye’s bail application after the prosecution requested additional time to respond to the application.

Lawyers for Abronye, led by former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame, opposed the request, arguing that the state had already been served with the necessary processes and should have been ready to respond.

The prosecution, however, maintained that it needed time to properly acquaint itself with the application before filing its response.

The court subsequently granted the request and ordered the Republic to file its response by close of day, with the matter adjourned to Thursday, May 21, 2026, for the bail hearing.
