Five suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the Central East Regional Police Command for their alleged involvement in a sophisticated robbery syndicate operating in parts of the region.

The suspects, Bismark Amponsah, also known as “Dotcom,” 32, a driver; Abdul Razak Ibrahim alias “Langa,” 32; Michael Annor Baah alias “Money,” 29; Razak Jibril alias “Salaala,” 53, a trader and ex-convict who previously served a 25-year jail term for robbery and was released in 2023; and Nana Yaw Bediako, 46, a trader and another ex-convict who served 15 years for robbery and was released in 2024 — were reportedly planning another series of attacks when they were intercepted by police.

According to the police, the group is believed to have been behind several recent robberies around Kasoa, Millennium City, and Agona Swedru.

Their arrest was effected on May 9, 2026, following sustained surveillance and intelligence-led operations by the Police Intelligence Department (PID) of the Central East Regional Command.

A search conducted at Kasoa and Agona Swedru led to the retrieval of a pump-action gun with 54 BB cartridges, a foreign pistol loaded with 38 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a taser with three magazines, and other offensive weapons.

The suspects were arraigned before the Ofaakor Circuit Court on Tuesday, May 12, and have been remanded into police custody. They are expected to reappear in court on May 27, 2026.

The Central East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Peter Nchor, disclosed that investigators are also pursuing a faceless individual suspected of operating from Ankaful Prison and allegedly coordinating the group’s robbery activities.

He assured that the police command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks in the region, while urging continued public cooperation through the sharing of credible intelligence.
