The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced that it will carry out emergency maintenance works at the Smelter II Substation in Tema on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

According to the company, the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to improve the reliability of power supply and strengthen the resilience of the national transmission network.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, May 26, GRIDCo said some residents and customers in parts of Tema may experience temporary power interruptions between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. during the maintenance period.

The company explained that the works are necessary to ensure the continued stability and efficiency of electricity transmission in the area.

GRIDCo apologised for the inconvenience the exercise may cause and assured affected customers that engineers and technical teams would work swiftly to complete the maintenance and restore power supply within the shortest possible time.

The company also thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation.

GRIDCo is responsible for the transmission of electricity from wholesale power suppliers to bulk customers and distribution utilities in Ghana and parts of West Africa.
