Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has directed the contractor working on the newly established University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences to complete all outstanding auxiliary works by May 31, 2026, ahead of the school’s planned opening later this year.
According to the Minister, the contractor is expected to finish key infrastructure projects, including the central administration block, academic facilities, accommodation units and other supporting infrastructure necessary for the smooth take-off of academic activities.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the university’s governing council on Tuesday, May 12, Mr Iddrisu disclosed that the institution is expected to admit its first batch of students in October 2026.
“I have requested, after a site visit, that the contractor should complete work not later than May 31, 2026,” he stated.
The Education Minister further noted that the government is also providing accommodation for professors and senior staff, as well as male and female student hostels, internal roads and other supporting facilities to ensure the institution begins operations on a strong footing.
“As I said, two major academic programs: the School of Engineering and the School of Agriculture. A number of you, as part of the contract, will receive some training,” he added.
