The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi, says GH¢179 million is required to complete the Krofrom Market project.

Speaking at the General Assembly meeting of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi, he disclosed that the Assembly has secured GH¢100 million from the Government of Ghana through the Social Investment Fund under the Ministry of Finance to support the project and ensure it is completed on schedule.

The Mayor added that work on the site has resumed, with Artachy Construction Limited, the anchor contractor, working diligently to ensure completion of the project.

“Based on the consultant estimates, an amount of GH¢179 million is required to complete the project. I am pleased to announce that we have secured financial support of GH¢100 million from the Government of Ghana through the Social Investment Fund under the Ministry of Finance to support the completion of the project as scheduled.”

He added that this significant intervention underscores the unwavering commitment of President John Dramani Mahama and His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to the realisation of this project at Krofrom.

Mr. Boadi added that a seven-member committee has been constituted to facilitate the allocation of spaces and develop operational modalities for the market upon completion. The committee includes representatives from the Regional Coordinating Council and technical officers from KMA.

On the Kejetia Phase 2 Market, the Mayor noted that the Kejetia Redevelopment Project is progressing steadily. He explained that work has stalled while financing arrangements and implementation modalities are being finalised to ensure value for money and timely execution.

He noted that this project remains critical to the realisation of the vision of a fully modernised Central market enclave.

The Mayor further disclosed that other satellite markets in the metropolis have been awarded under Public-Private Partnerships to improve market infrastructure and enhance commercial activity across Kumasi.
