Dennis Miracles Aboagye, aide to NPP Flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, to consider leaving her role, citing concerns over her controversial public remarks.

Linda Ocloo, in a statement on Wednesday, April 6, apologised after public backlash over comments suggesting that postings to northern Ghana could be perceived as a form of punishment.

The minister said the remarks, captured in a widely circulated video, were a “genuine slip in communication” and did not reflect her actual views or the policies governing postings within Ghana’s public service.

Speaking on Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, May 6, he said while the Minister may have made contributions during her tenure, it may be time to “give way for others” who can bring a more unifying approach to the role.

He argued that public office requires a high level of discipline in communication, cautioning against what he characterised as excessive media exposure and unguarded public statements.

“…But if you choose to go the path on which she is doing, where she’s camera happy, she always wants to be in front of the camera, and she’s always making very loose talks all the time, it is not helpful”, he added.

Miracles stressed that in situations where public comments spark backlash, issuing an apology alone is inadequate, maintaining that leadership in public service must go beyond expressions of regret and reflect a deeper sense of accountability.
