President John Dramani Mahama will on Friday May 22 begin a two-day “Resetting Ghana Tour” of the Savannah Region, as part of efforts to assess ongoing development projects and engage directly with residents.
The President’s first engagement will be at Sawla, where he will launch the National BSTEM programme for basic schools. He will then proceed to inspect ongoing works on the Sawla–Wa highway and the Bole–Tinga road rehabilitation project, both under the Big Push Programme.
On the first day of the tour, President Mahama is also expected to cut sod for the Bole District 24-hour Economy model market, as well as visit development projects at the Bole College of Education. He will further commission the Mahama ICT Centre at Damongo, the Savannah Regional capital, alongside other education-related infrastructure.
As part of the itinerary, the President will pay courtesy calls on traditional leaders, including the Yagbonwura.
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, President Mahama will be accompanied by key sector ministers, including those responsible for Roads and Highways, Education, and Youth Development and Empowerment, as well as other senior government officials.
He is expected to engage residents in an open forum to outline his administration’s achievements, ongoing policy interventions, and to respond to concerns and feedback from the public.
The President will conclude his tour with a site inspection of the proposed Savannah Regional Hospital before departing the region.
