President John Dramani Mahama has stated that Ghana’s newly launched electronic visa system will enhance border management by enabling authorities to receive passenger information in real time without delays.
Speaking during the official launch of the e-visa platform on Monday, May 25, President Mahama said the initiative would strengthen security operations and improve efficiency in Ghana’s migration and aviation systems.
“This initiative laid the foundation for smarter, more secure and more efficient border management. These systems have significantly enhanced our capacity to receive real-time passenger data, strengthening intelligence-led security operations and aligning Ghana with internationally accepted aviation and migration standards. So today’s launch is just building on the foundation of what we started,” he said.
He added that the newly approved e-Visa policy forms part of government efforts to modernise Ghana’s travel and immigration systems, strengthen security checks, and promote tourism and foreign investment.
According to him, the digital visa platform is expected to simplify visa application procedures for business and tourist travellers while ensuring secure and efficient entry processes.
The e-Visa system is also part of broader initiatives aimed at digitising public services and improving Ghana’s competitiveness in the global travel and investment space.
