MoMAG honours IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno over crime fight

The Mobile Money Advocacy Group (MoMAG) Ghana has commended the Ghana Police Service and Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno for efforts in tackling crime, particularly attacks targeting mobile money agents across the country.

The commendation was made when the group presented the IGP with a plaque, citation and bottles of water in recognition of his achievements in the fight against crime.

Speaking to Citi News after the presentation, the president of the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana, Edward Ofori-Agyemang, praised the IGP for the ongoing efforts to protect mobile money agents and urged the Police Service to sustain the arrest and prosecution of criminals involved in attacks on agents.

He said improved security for mobile money operators remains critical to sustaining confidence in digital financial services and protecting livelihoods within the sector.

“We have seen the good work that the Ghana Police Service is doing under the leadership of the IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

“The entire Ghana Police Service they are doing very well. The intelligence things that they have put in place to curb these robbers who are worrying the citizens in the country and then mobile money agents. We are happy for the good work,” he said.

The IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno also speaking at the event reiterated the Police Service’s commitment to intensifying its crackdown on criminal activities to ensure the safety of Ghanaians and businesses.

He warned criminal elements to lay down their arms and desist from unlawful activities, stressing that the Police Service will continue to track down and arrest offenders.

“We want to sound a strong warning to the criminals wherever they are, that we will not give up in our endeavor to make sure that we protect Ghanaians in general. And so, for that matter, they should lay down their arms, they should stop committing crime, because whatever they do and wherever they hide in this our modern day of policing, they can run, but they cannot hide,” he said.
