The Ghana Railway Company Limited (GRCL) has dismissed reports alleging that GH¢50 million is missing from the company’s accounts, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a press release issued on May 20, 2026, management of the company said the publication circulating on social media and some media platforms has no factual basis.
According to GRCL, the allegation, which was reportedly attributed to the Railway Workers Union of Ghana, does not reflect the true state of affairs within the company.
Management said the publication appears intended to create public disaffection, undermine confidence in the leadership of the company, and damage the image and reputation of GRCL.
“The said allegation is false, baseless, misleading, and without any factual foundation whatsoever,” the statement said.
The company assured the public, staff, stakeholders and development partners that its financial and operational activities are always subjected to the appropriate administrative, financial and regulatory procedures.
GRCL further stated that no official audit report, investigation or financial review has established the existence of any missing GH¢50 million as being alleged.
Management disclosed that it has invited the leadership of the Railway Workers Union of Ghana to clarify the authenticity, source and basis of the publication to enable the company respond appropriately to the concerns raised.
The public has therefore been advised to disregard the publication and treat it with what the company described as the “contempt it deserves.”
GRCL reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and professionalism, adding that it remains focused on supporting government efforts to reposition the railway sector for national development.
