The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Richard Kofi Asiedu, has pledged to help address unemployment and key infrastructure challenges in Agona Kwanyako after being installed as the town’s “Nkosoɔhene” (Development Chief).

Known in traditional circles as Nana Asiedu Keteke, the businessman and politician said the honour bestowed on him by the traditional authorities comes with great responsibility, which he is prepared to carry out for the benefit of the community.
Speaking after at installation ceremony on Saturday May 9, he said the recognition reflected the collective spirit and unity of the people of Kwanyako.

“Whatever Kwanyako does, we all involve ourselves, and that is what has touched our father, Nana Ampem Darko’s heart. Today, he has honoured me, my family, and the NDC party. This comes with a lot of responsibility, and I know I can handle it,” he said.
He identified youth unemployment and inadequate infrastructure as some of the pressing challenges facing the community and pledged to use his new role to mobilise support for development projects.
“My heartfelt desire is for the youth to gain employment, and we also need basic infrastructure, with the major priorities being roads and a hospital,” he stated.

According to him, residents both home and abroad have contributed towards the completion of a hospital project in the area, but the facility remains unfinished.
“Our residents at home and abroad have helped in efforts to complete the hospital, but we have not been able to finish it. Now that I am the development chief, I know I will secure the necessary support to see these projects through,” he added.
The colourful installation ceremony drew political leaders, traditional authorities, residents and party supporters from across the region.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah was among the dignitaries who attended the event to support the newly installed development chief.
The ceremony featured traditional rites, drumming and dancing as residents celebrated the recognition of Richard Kofi Asiedu for what chiefs described as his contributions to the welfare and development of the community.
