The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, says the party is determined to win the Karaga parliamentary seat in the 2028 general elections while continuing development projects in the constituency.

Speaking during a thank-you tour in Karaga, he said the NDC is confident of strengthening its support base and eventually securing the seat it was unable to win in the previous elections.

“Once we take the seat in 2028 there will be no turning back and we’ll maintain the seat once again as the stronghold of NDC,” he said.

Mr Nketiah noted that although the party does not currently hold the seat, it remains committed to ensuring continued development in the area.

“Even though we couldn’t win the parliamentary seat we are going to continue all the projects here and we will make sure that Karaga will get its fair share of the national cake,” he stated.

He expressed confidence that by the next election, residents would be convinced about the performance of the NDC-led government.

“By the time we get to 2028 everybody in Karaga here will know that indeed President Mahama’s government has been the best government that serves the interests of Karaga,” he said.

The Karaga seat is currently held by NPP’s Mohammed Amin Adam.

The NDC Chairman also urged party members to take upcoming branch elections seriously, warning against the selection of officials who are not committed to the party’s progress.

“We have just started the process. We have signed letters for our branch elections to be done. Please open your eyes and identify those branch executives who sacrificed and worked very hard for the party,” he said.

He cautioned against what he described as self-interested executives, urging members to retain committed party workers.

“There are however other executives who wanted to follow the stomach policies and to follow where the money was flowing from. If you identify them please advise them to stay aside,” he added.

On youth employment, he assured supporters that recruitment into the security services would continue in phases.

“We have only done one year of the recruitment. In 2026 we will come back and recruit more,” he said.
