The body of a man believed to be in his 60s has been recovered along the railway line at Alajo following heavy flooding triggered by torrential rains in Accra on Monday, June 29.

The recovery was confirmed by the Ghana National Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, Alex King Nartey, as emergency responders continued rescue and recovery operations in flood-affected communities across the capital.

In addition to the fatality, the flooding has caused extensive damage to vehicles and other properties, with several roads rendered impassable as floodwaters inundated homes, businesses and major transport routes.

Emergency services have been deployed to affected areas to assist stranded residents and assess the extent of the damage.

The latest development comes as persistent heavy rains continue to wreak havoc across parts of Accra, prompting authorities to urge residents to stay away from flood-prone areas and avoid attempting to cross fast-flowing floodwaters.

The Ghana National Fire Service has also advised the public to remain vigilant and promptly report emergencies as response teams continue to monitor the situation.
