The Municipal Chief Executive for La Nkwantanang-Madina, Ibrahim Fiala Fuseini, has indicated that the owner of the storey building that collapsed at Adenta will be arrested.
According to him, the developer had been cautioned against proceeding with the construction because the pillars of the building were not suitable to support a one-storey structure.
The collapse of the building resulted in the death of one person, while four others sustained injuries.
Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Fuseini said the developer would also be surcharged for the cost of clearing the debris.
“The developer will be arrested. I’ve spoken to the commander before coming here, and then I’m going to talk to her again that they should find where the man is. We have his name and his contacts, so we are going to use that as contact tracing to get him arrested,” he said
The Deputy Director of Technical Services at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly, Justice Tengey, says the debris from the collapsed building will be cleared today.
The Commander of the Legon District Fire Station, DOII Abdulai Salia, noted that investigations have commenced to determine the cause of the building collapse.
