The spokesperson for the Apostle Kwadwo Safo family, Dr Emmanuel Boakye, has alleged that former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo was the target of an assassination attempt linked to an ongoing succession dispute over the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission and its business conglomerate.
He described the incident on Sunday, June 21, as a deliberate and coordinated operation rather than a random act of violence, insisting that those involved intended to kill the former legislator.
Speaking on the Channel One Newsroom on Monday, June 22, Dr Boakye said the alleged attack was connected to a broader internal struggle over the control of the church and its associated businesses following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo.
He said the dispute involves Adwoa Safo and her brother, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, who are associated with competing claims in the succession process.
According to Dr Boakye, the attack was premeditated, with individuals allegedly mobilised and deployed in advance to carry out what he described as an “elimination” mission.
“I’m not a lawyer, but I can tell you, it was an attempt to kill an individual, attempted killing. Personally, the family was shocked, the siblings, everybody was so shocked. How can you, in your right sense, without any medication, point a gun at your own sister, whatever crime that he has committed? No way,” he said.
“Some of them are employees of KPS. And the other guys, about 20 of them, they came there just that same day at dawn. They came there that dawn, for an operation. The operation was to eliminate Adwoa Safo.”
The allegations are the latest development in the growing dispute over succession to the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the business interests established by its late founder.
The opposing side has denied the allegations, while police investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
Meanwhile, the family says Adwoa Safo, who sustained injuries during the incident, is responding positively to treatment.
