BOST Energies rejects allegations of fuel contamination at Kumasi depot

BOST Energies Limited Company has dismissed reports alleging fuel contamination at its Kumasi Depot, describing the publications as false, inaccurate and misleading.

In a statement issued on June 22, 2026, the company said the reports misrepresented an isolated incident involving a tanker truck suspected of transporting adulterated petroleum products to the depot, stressing that the integrity of fuel stocks within its storage and distribution system was never compromised.

According to BOST Energies, depot personnel detected anomalies in a tanker truck with registration number GN 8887-18 during routine operational and quality assurance checks.

The company said immediate control measures were implemented after the product raised concerns.

BOST Energies stated that samples taken from the tanker underwent internal testing, which showed that the product did not meet required specifications.

To validate the findings, additional samples were submitted to an independent third-party laboratory for further analysis.

The company said the independent assessment confirmed that the product was off-specification.

Following the confirmation, BOST Energies notified the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), which subsequently impounded the tanker truck in line with regulatory requirements.

The company added that regulatory and administrative actions are being pursued against both the driver and the transporter involved.

BOST Energies emphasized that the detection of the off-specification product demonstrates the effectiveness of its quality assurance systems and operational controls.

“At no point did the incident compromise the integrity of products within the depot’s storage and distribution system, as no litre of product was discharged from the said vehicle,” the statement noted.

The company urged the public and industry stakeholders to disregard reports suggesting that fuel contamination occurred at the Kumasi Depot, insisting that such claims do not accurately reflect the circumstances surrounding the incident.

BOST Energies reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety and operational excellence across its facilities, while continuing to work with regulators to safeguard the integrity of petroleum products within Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
