Deputy Director-General of the National Service Authority, Fuseini Donkoh, has urged the Black Stars to adopt an aggressive approach when they face England in their second Group-stage match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His comments follow Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Panama and come ahead of the crucial encounter against England scheduled for Tuesday, June 23.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Thursday, June 18, Donkoh dismissed suggestions that Ghana should be intimidated by the European side, insisting that the Black Stars have what it takes to compete if they approach the game with confidence and intensity.
According to him, Ghana’s strategy against England should be determined by the nature of the contest, but stressed that the team must be prepared to challenge their opponents physically, particularly Midfield battles.
Donkoh said the Black Stars should contest every loose ball aggressively while avoiding reckless tackles that could result in bookings. He argued that such an approach could disrupt England’s rhythm and prevent their star players from settling into the game.
”We should be aggressive. Go hard for all the 50-50 balls and make them uncomfortable. They will back off once you start matching their intensity because these guys are stars. The moment they see you being aggressive, they will think twice,” he stated.
He further advised the Black Stars to remain disciplined in defensive areas but be uncompromising in midfield duels, where he believes the game could be won or lost.
