The body of an adult male has been retrieved from the Densu River at Tetegu near Weija in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The deceased was discovered by fishermen during a fishing expedition on the river.
Although the identity of the deceased has not yet been established, a resident of the community, Dr Samuel Agyei, told Citi News that the man appeared to be in his late 30s and was not known to be a resident of the area.
Police have since conveyed the body to a morgue for preservation and further investigations.
The discovery comes days after the Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East, Seth Sabah Serwonoo-Banini, announced on Wednesday, June 10, that two people — an adult and a child — had drowned in a tributary of the Densu River near Nurses Quarters Junction on the Kasoa-Obom Road.
In a separate incident, an electrician also drowned at Ateaa, with his body recovered the following day at Peace Town near Ngleshie Amanfro.
Authorities are yet to determine whether the body retrieved from the Densu River at Tetegu is that of the man whose drowning was earlier reported.
