The Co-Chair of the Citizen Movement against Corruption, Edem Senanu, has called on the Minority in Parliament to adopt formal and lawful channels, particularly the Right to Information (RTI) Act, in seeking clarity on the whereabouts of former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive, Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, rather than making public allegations against the government without verified evidence.
His appeal comes in the wake of claims by the Minority that the government is allegedly shielding Sedina Tamakloe from serving her 10-year prison sentence, a situation they argue raises concerns about accountability and the enforcement of court judgments in the country.
The controversy has generated public debate, with questions being raised about the exact status and location of the former MASLOC boss, following her conviction and sentencing. While the Minority insists that there may be deliberate efforts to keep her whereabouts unclear, civil society voices are urging restraint and adherence to proper investigative procedures.
Speaking to Citi News, Edem Senanu emphasised that although public interest in the matter is valid and understandable, it is important for institutions and political actors to rely on structured legal processes to obtain accurate information rather than making assertions that could fuel confusion or mistrust.
He stressed that the Right to Information Act remains the most appropriate tool for such inquiries and encouraged the Minority to formally engage the relevant state institutions through that framework.
“I think the Minority should formally file an RTI request to know her whereabouts and let us also get information on when she was brought and put in jail.”
