Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is receiving medical treatment following an alleged shooting incident at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, on Sunday.

According to sources familiar with the incident, the former legislator was at the property when gunshots were fired amid heightened tensions linked to an ongoing leadership succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo movement following the death of Kwadwo Safo.

Witnesses claim that armed individuals opened fire during a gathering reportedly organised in support of efforts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as successor to the late founder.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that approximately 15 rounds of ammunition were discharged during the incident.

Sources close to Adwoa Safo allege that one of the bullets grazed her near the neck. She was subsequently taken for medical attention and is said to be in stable condition.

The incident comes against the backdrop of a growing dispute within the Kristo Asafo family over succession arrangements following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

The matter has reportedly generated legal challenges, with some family members contesting attempts to elevate Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena to the leadership of the organisation.

The Ghana Police Service is yet to issue an official statement on the incident. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting and establish the facts of the case.
