Inadequate furniture forces Dadease Agric SHS to run shift system

Authorities at the Dadease Agric Senior High School have decried the impact of inadequate furniture on academic activities, lamenting that students sometimes have to squat or stand during instructional hours.

The challenge is not limited to the classrooms but extends to the dining hall, forcing authorities to endure the situation amid fears that it could have long-term effects on learning outcomes.

The situation is further compounded by inadequate classrooms and places of convenience, compelling school authorities to operate a shift system.

Dadease Agric Senior High School, with a current student population of over 2000, was purposely established to equip inhabitants of farming communities within the Effiduase and Kumawu areas with knowledge in agriculture.

However, the school is grappling with challenges that are gradually affecting this mandate, raising concerns that the interest of the youth in the agricultural sector may wane at a time when the government is promoting the Feed Ghana initiative.

Headmaster of the school, Francis Donkor, lamented that students sometimes sit on benches, stand, or squat to take lessons, a situation he says is taking a toll on academic activities.

“We are having furniture challenges both in the classrooms and the dining hall. We currently have 2037 students and the inadequate furniture issue has forced us to run the transitional calendar system.

“The furniture in the dining hall is also not enough and so if there is any will to provide assistance, we urgently need furniture.”
