NDC could be behind Afenyo-Markin Facebook hack — Miracles

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Spokesperson for NPP Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has alleged that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) could be behind the reported hacking of Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s Facebook account, while also raising suspicion about possible involvement of Communication Minister Samuel Nartey George or individuals linked to him.

His comments come after the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation challenged Afenyo-Markin to file a formal complaint to enable an investigation into the alleged compromise of his social media account.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue on Saturday, June 6, Miracles argued that the Minority Leader should not be compelled to report the matter to authorities he does not trust.

“Afenyo does not have to report anything to him. Afenyo has been able to recover his account so why are you saying that in order for him to prove to you that his account has been compromised, he should come and report to you first. We don’t trust you so why should we come and report the same thing to you,” he said.

He further insisted that the recovery of the account should be sufficient indication that it had been compromised, questioning the demand for formal reporting as proof.

“You could have been the one who even compromised Afenyo’s account. Infact, I have always held my suspicion that it was the NDC that did that to Afenyo. Sam George can be unscrupulous and can use some unscrupulous people to actually hack people’s account. I have my strong suspicion that Sam George or somebody could be behind the Afenyo thing,” he added.

The comments follow growing public discussion after Afenyo-Markin denied authorship of a viral Facebook post that criticised the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025, describing it as fake and claiming his account had been compromised.

The now-deleted post, which circulated widely on social media, sparked controversy and debate before being disowned by the Minority Leader.

The incident has since intensified conversations around social media security, political communication, and the authenticity of online statements attributed to public figures.
