The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has intensified relief support for more than 1,000 residents displaced by devastating floods in Samreboi in the Western Region, who have remained out of their homes for nearly two weeks.
The latest intervention forms part of ongoing efforts to stabilise affected communities and provide immediate humanitarian assistance to families struggling to recover from the impact of the disaster.
Presenting the relief items to the Wassa Amenfi West Municipal NADMO Directorate, the Western Regional Director of NADMO, Daniel Darlington Atitso, said the consignment was released to urgently support victims as recovery efforts continue.
The items include 100 bags of rice, 30 boxes of cooking oil, 12 bales of used clothing and four bales of bedsheets to help meet the basic needs of displaced households.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Atitso explained that the support package is part of a rapid response effort aimed at easing the hardship faced by victims and restoring some level of normalcy in the affected communities.
He noted that the intervention was necessary to ensure that affected persons are not left unattended while longer-term recovery measures are being coordinated.
The relief items are expected to be distributed to displaced families in the coming days as NADMO continues to monitor the situation and assess further needs in the flood-affected areas.
“I am here on behalf of the Director-General with the items you are seeing: rice, cooking oil, blankets, and several other items, including used clothing, as you can see.
“These are part of an urgent response to help address the situation. The aim is to support affected people so they can begin to recover and return to normal life as quickly as possible.”
