A total of 10,833 parcels of narcotic substances have been destroyed at the Koforidua dumping site on the Akwadum road in the Eastern Region in accordance with section 108 of the Narcotics Control Commission Act.

The destruction supervised by representatives from the Ghana Police Service, the Narcotics Control Commission, the Attorney-General’s Department, and counsel for the accused persons, followed orders of the Court dated May 5, 2026, in separate narcotics-related cases before the Koforidua circuit Court.

In the case involving Ayertey Raphael Wilson and Samuel Tettey, the accused persons were charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of narcotic drugs for trafficking without lawful authority contrary to Section 23 clause one of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960, Act 29 and Section 37 clause one of the Narcotics Control Commission Act, 2020, Act 1019, together with three other related charges.

The accused persons were subsequently convicted pursuant to a Plea Bargaining Agreement filed on April 28, 2026.

Following the Court’s order, 150 sacks of narcotic substances were destroyed.

The exhibits comprised 77 seized sacks of cannabis loaded on a truck with registration number GN 993-14 and 74 seized sacks of cannabis loaded on a truck with registration number GG 3674-20.

Each sack contained seventy parcels of narcotic substances, bringing the total number of narcotic parcels destroyed in that case to 10,500.

In another case involving Innocent Klokofi, 333 parcels of cannabis were also destroyed pursuant to the orders of the Court dated May 5, 2026.
