Three former students of Hohoe E.P. Senior High School have been arrested by the Volta North Regional Police Command for allegedly damaging school property after completing their final examinations.
The arrests followed a complaint by school authorities, who reported that some former students had vandalised a water pipeline on the school campus shortly after finishing their exams.
Police said a video of the incident, which later went viral on social media, showed about five former students involved in the destruction of the facility before leaving the school.
Acting on the complaint, police launched investigations and tracked down three suspects. They were identified as Rashid Suraj Dakpo, 19, Alhassan Mohammed, 20, and Abdul Kadri Abdulai, 20.
The suspects are currently assisting with investigations and are expected to be processed for court.
The police said efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects believed to have taken part in the act.
The Volta North Regional Police Command expressed concern about the increasing trend of students destroying school property after writing their final examinations.
It warned that anyone found engaging in such acts would be arrested and prosecuted.
The command also called on parents, guardians and teachers to educate students on the consequences of vandalism and other unlawful behaviour.
