The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has alerted members of its community to avoid several parts of the campus following flooding caused by heavy rainfall on Friday, June 19, 2026.
In a notice issued by the Directorate of Public Affairs, the university said the downpour has led to flooding in key areas, affecting movement and raising safety concerns for students, staff, and residents within surrounding communities.
According to the notice, the affected areas include Avenue Circle (Science Roundabout), the Zenith Bank area, the rear of the Sandwich Lecture Theatre, Ayensu, and parts of Sasakawa Road.
“The members of the University Community, especially students and the general public, are hereby informed that due to the excessive rains today, Friday, 19 June 2026, parts of campus and the surrounding communities are flooded,” the statement said.
The university has therefore urged all persons to avoid the affected locations until the floodwaters recede.
“All are entreated to avoid these areas until the floods recede,” the notice added.
The advisory was signed by Felix Adu-Poku, Head of the Public Relations Section at UCC’s Directorate of Public Affairs.
