Nominations for the New Patriotic Party’s Ashanti Regional executive elections have officially closed with 35 aspirants picking and submitting nomination forms.
According to Kwaku Atta Sarpong, a member of the Ashanti Regional NPP Elections Committee, nominations opened on Wednesday, July 15 and closed on Friday, July 17, 2026.
Out of the 35 aspirants, 28 are males while 7 are females.
A breakdown of the positions shows that two persons are contesting for Regional Chairman, four for 1st Vice Chairman, and three for 2nd Vice Chairman.
For the secretary positions, three persons picked forms for Secretary and four for Deputy Secretary while three aspirants are contesting for Treasurer.
In the organizer categories, three persons are vying for Organizer, four for Youth Organizer, and four for Nasara Organizer. Three women have also filed to contest for Women’s Organizer, while two are in the race for Communications Officer.
Mr. Atta Sarpong said vetting of the aspirants is scheduled for Monday or Tuesday, subject to approval by the committee.
The NPP is expected to hold its regional executive elections on August 16, 2026.
