Afrobeats star Davido has encouraged young people pursuing ambitious goals to remain grounded in their faith, saying success should never cause them to lose sight of God despite the many distractions that come with fame.
Speaking in an interview with Kiss Xtra, the award-winning musician reflected on the growing number of celebrities, particularly Christians, who drift away from church after achieving success.
Davido said self-belief is the foundation of every successful journey, urging young people to trust their abilities while consistently working to improve their talents.
Recalling his early years in music, he said he dedicated himself to mastering his craft by learning from YouTube and drawing inspiration from those around him.
According to the singer, his unwavering passion for music and commitment to constant improvement were key factors in his rise to international recognition.
“My advice for young boys with big dreams is, first of all, believe in yourself. I worked on my craft so much. I loved music so much that I just wanted to get better every time. When I was young, I was learning from YouTube and the people around me,” he said.
Davido further stressed that while dedication and hard work are essential for success, maintaining a strong relationship with God is equally important once one’s goals have been achieved.
He noted that fame often introduces numerous distractions that can make successful people forget the source of their blessings.
“Secondly, love what you do and put God first and close, especially when you make it, because there are so many distractions that can make you forget He is the reason you are here,” he added.
