The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM), responsible for Finance and Administration, Mr. Victor Easmon, on Friday, 10th July 2026, led Management and staff of the Bank to participate in the National General Cleaning Days exercise declared by His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, following the devastating floods of Monday, 29th June 2026.

The exercise, held under the theme “Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the Floods,” is being coordinated by the Post-Flood Mitigation Committee across the seven regions affected by the floods Greater Accra, Volta, Central, Western, Western North, Ashanti and Eastern.

Staff of the Bank, drawn from the Head Office at the Africa Trade House, Ambassadorial Enclave, joined sister government institutions like Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) amongst other sister organisations to sweep streets, desilt choked drains and clear refuse around the Liberia Road stretch, Efua Sutherland Park, National Theatre and adjoining drains.

Addressing staff at the commencement of the exercise, Mr. Easmon on behalf of the Chief Executive Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah noted that the President had directed all heads of public institutions to step out of their offices and lead the clean-up effort in their respective communities and stated that the Bank was proud to answer that call.

“GEXIM exists to build Ghana’s productive and export capacity. We cannot stand aside when the communities that host the very businesses we finance are counting their losses. Every choked drain we clear today is a small act of protection for a trader, an exporter and an SME,” he said.

He further indicated that the exercise aligned with the Bank’s broader commitment to national development beyond financing, stressing that a clean and well-drained environment is essential economic infrastructure for the Government’s export-led growth and 24-hour economy agenda.

“Management and staff of GEXIM will be counted every time this nation rises to clean itself, because a resilient Ghana is the foundation of a prosperous, export-led Ghana,” he added.

Mr. Easmon commended the staff of GEXIM for participating in the exercise and urged residents to sustain the effort beyond the two days, including through the reintroduced National Sanitation Day, to be observed on the first Saturday of every month.

The Ghana Export-Import Bank was established under the Ghana Export-Import Bank Act, 2016 (Act 911) to support the Government of Ghana’s quest for a feasible and sustainable export-led economy.
