General Manager of Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra, Isaac Okpoti Adjei, has urged Ghanaians to view healthy eating as a lifelong investment rather than a passing trend, stressing that better nutrition is essential to improving individual well-being and tackling the growing burden of non-communicable diseases.
Speaking at the hotel’s Green Stay Initiative held on Friday, July 10, 2026, under the theme “Healthy Food Options Not an Option: Promoting Healthy Nutrition for a Healthy Workforce,” Isaac Okpoti Adjei said making healthier food choices can significantly improve quality of life and support a more productive workforce.
“To our guests and members of the public, I encourage you to view healthy nutrition not as a temporary trend, but as a lifelong investment,” he said.
According to him, simple lifestyle changes such as eating balanced meals, reducing excessive sugar and salt intake, staying physically active and maintaining proper hydration can have a lasting impact on health outcomes.
“Small, consistent choices – eating balanced meals, reducing excessive sugar and salt intake, staying active through activities of sports, staying hydrated, and maintaining active lifestyles – can significantly improve our overall well-being,” he stated.
Isaac Okpoti Adjei said the event reflected a shared commitment to addressing one of the most pressing public health issues facing societies today – the health and well-being of people.
He noted that hospitality goes beyond delivering quality guest experiences and includes a responsibility to contribute to healthier communities and a more sustainable future.
“As one of Ghana’s leading hospitality brands and a proud member of the Accor Group, we believe that true excellence is measured not only by the quality of our service but also by the positive impact we make on society,” he said.
The Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel General Manager described the event’s theme as timely, citing the increasing prevalence of unhealthy diets and lifestyle-related diseases across the world.
“Conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease continue to rise, affecting productivity, increasing healthcare costs and diminishing quality of life,” he observed.
He said the impact of such conditions extends beyond individuals and families to businesses and national healthcare systems, making preventive action increasingly important.
Isaac Okpoti Adjei identified the workplace as one of the most effective settings for promoting healthier lifestyles, arguing that organizations that invest in nutrition are also investing in their employees and long-term productivity.
“When organizations invest in healthier food choices and promote nutritional awareness, they invest in their people. A healthy workforce is more energetic, more productive, more innovative and better equipped to deliver excellence,” he said.
He stressed that healthy food options should no longer be treated as optional.
“This is why we boldly state that healthy food options are not an option. They are a necessity. They are essential for building resilient organizations, stronger economies and healthier nations,” he added.
Isaac Okpoti Adjei also highlighted the hotel’s sustainability agenda, explaining that the Green Stay Initiative forms part of broader efforts to create value for people, communities and future generations.
“At Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, sustainability is more than an environmental commitment. It is about creating lasting value for people, communities and future generations,” he said.
He outlined measures being implemented by the hotel, including promoting healthier dining choices, reducing food waste, supporting responsible sourcing and encouraging wellness among employees and guests.
The General Manager, however, stressed that improving nutrition outcomes requires collective action.
“Promoting healthy nutrition requires collaboration among governments, the hospitality industry, food industry, healthcare professionals, educational institutions, food producers, and all of us here, consumers,” he noted.
He called for policies that encourage healthier lifestyles, workplaces that prioritize employee well-being and communities that support informed nutritional decisions.
Isaac Okpoti Adjei commended policymakers, public health professionals and industry leaders for their role in advancing Ghana’s health agenda and helping create an environment where healthier choices become easier for citizens.
Addressing players within the hospitality and food industries, he said the sector has a responsibility to influence healthier eating habits through the choices it offers consumers.
“Every menu we create, every ingredient we source, every food we produce, and every dining experience we offer can inspire healthier living while celebrating Ghana’s rich culinary heritage and the diversity of global cuisine,” he said.
