MobileMoney Fintech Limited has launched RidewithMomo, a new digital payment solution designed to simplify and encourage cashless transactions for commercial drivers and transport operators across Ghana.
The product was unveiled at a launch event in Accra on Wednesday, July 8, as part of the company’s efforts to expand the adoption of merchant payment solutions within the transport sector.
Speaking to journalists, Chief Commercial and Operations Officer Abdul Razak Ali said the initiative is intended to help drivers transition from using personal Mobile Money wallets to merchant accounts, which offer a more business-friendly payment experience.
According to him, RidewithMomo is aimed at making it easier for drivers to conduct business while giving them access to the benefits associated with merchant services.
“We are trying to bring the merchant solution and the ease of doing business into the transport space. We want to encourage drivers, who are businesses in their own right, to adopt merchant services so they can enjoy the benefits and better experiences that come with operating a merchant account,” he said.

Ali explained that while digital payment services require operational costs to maintain, the merchant platform offers significantly lower transaction charges than personal Mobile Money wallets.
He noted that many drivers currently receive payments through their personal wallets, a practice that attracts higher charges and is not tailored to business operations.
“One of the reasons we are moving drivers into the merchant space is because the charges are much lower. The merchant solution is specifically designed for businesses, allowing them to reduce transaction costs and operate more profitably,” he stated.
The company believes the introduction of RidewithMomo will accelerate digital payments within Ghana’s transport industry while supporting drivers with a more efficient, secure and cost-effective way of receiving payments from passengers.
