The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sound corporate governance and strengthening Ghana’s business regulatory environment through strategic collaboration with governance professionals at the inaugural Company Secretaries’ Summit & Awards 2026, held in Accra.
The summit brought together company secretaries, governance experts, board advisors, regulators, captains of industry, and public sector leaders to discuss emerging trends shaping corporate governance in Ghana.
The Registrar of Companies, Maame Samma Peprah, in her opening statement, emphasised that strong corporate governance remains the foundation for sustainable business growth, investor confidence and national economic development.
She noted that as Ghana positions itself as a preferred investment destination, businesses must embrace transparency, accountability, and compliance to remain competitive in an evolving global economy.
The Registrar described Company Secretaries as the critical link between regulators, boards of directors and management, noting that their role has expanded beyond statutory compliance to include strategic governance, risk management, ethical leadership and effective board advisory.
She observed that modern governance professionals now play a critical role beyond regulatory compliance by supporting effective board decision-making, managing governance risks, and ensuring that organisations respond proactively to changing legal and regulatory requirements.
Maame Samma Peprah encouraged participants to embrace continuous professional development, innovation, and technology to enhance governance standards and support resilient, accountable, and sustainable organizations.
The summit featured keynote presentations on Artificial Intelligence in governance, governance in the public interest, boardroom dynamics and leadership, alongside breakout sessions designed to equip governance professionals with practical tools to navigate today’s increasingly complex governance landscape.
