Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has commended personnel of the Inspector General of Police’s special team, Black Maria, for a series of successful operations in communities across the Ashanti Region.
The commendation follows targeted operations by the unit aimed at clamping down on criminal networks operating in various parts of the region.
Speaking during a courtesy call on him by the team led by the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei-Akoto at Manhyia Palace, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II noted that the work of the Black Maria team has helped to restore calm and improve security in communities that had been affected by criminal activities.
The Asantehene urged the team to sustain the momentum and continue working closely with traditional authorities and local communities to ensure lasting peace and safety.
“I want to commend you for the excellent work you are doing. Your efforts are in the interest of Ghana and contribute to the safety and well-being of us all. This is a responsibility that requires commitment, dedication, service and love for the country.
“The decision by the IGP to select you for this task shows the confidence placed in your capabilities. I urge you to continue with the good work, remain vigilant and stay committed to protecting our communities,” he said.
He also called on residents to support the police by providing credible information to aid ongoing crime-fighting efforts.
