Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has disclosed that 87 projects are currently ongoing under the government’s flagship Big Push Infrastructure Programme, describing the initiative as one of the largest coordinated investments in strategic transport infrastructure in recent years.
According to the Finance Minister, the programme is being implemented across all 16 regions of Ghana, with projects covering major highways, urban roads and feeder roads aimed at improving connectivity, supporting economic activity and enhancing the movement of people and goods across the country.
The minister made the disclosure while presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament on Thursday, July 23, where he provided an update on the government’s infrastructure development agenda and the progress of major road projects.
He said that the Big Push programme forms part of the government’s broader strategy to accelerate infrastructure development by focusing on critical transport networks that link communities, boost trade and support national economic growth.
“Mr. Speaker, Government’s Big Push Infrastructure Programme is driving the largest coordinated investment in strategic transport infrastructure in recent years, with projects underway in all sixteen regions of the country. Mr. Speaker, work has commenced on 87 projects, comprising 74 trunk roads and bridges, 10 urban roads, and 3 feeder roads.
