Students aged between 11 and 15 will once again have the opportunity to showcase their writing, analytical and critical thinking skills following the launch of the 2026 Literacy Challenge, a nationwide academic competition that will focus on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.
Powered by Channel One TV and Citi FM, and proudly sponsored by Prospectus Ghana Limited, SIC Insurance and Advocate Publishing, the initiative is designed to promote literacy, numeracy, creativity and critical thinking while identifying and nurturing outstanding young talents across the country.
The launch brought together key stakeholders in the education sector, including the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Library Authority, Ziblim Alhassan Betintiche, General Manager of Channel One TV and Citi FM, Bernard Avle, and Ohene Djan, owner of East Airport International School.

Students, teachers and parents from Christ the King International School, Jireh International School, Achimota Basic School, Service Primary and JHS, Ridge Church School and several other schools also attended the event.
For this year’s competition, participants are required to write a letter of not less than 600 words to the Minister for Education, acting as a youth consultant. The essay should discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. Advice on how Ghana can effectively integrate AI into basic schools while ensuring that learners in rural and underserved communities are not left behind.
The event concluded with the Ghana Library Authority and the British Council pledging their support for the successful organisation of the competition, including making their facilities available to host aspects of the contest.
