The Municipal Chief Executive for Bekwai, Alhaji Issaka Salia Salisu, has urged Ghanaians to set aside political differences and support the government’s development agenda, saying it remains on course to deliver tangible results.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the General Assembly meeting of the Assembly in Bekwai, the MCE said the administration has rolled out numerous projects across key sectors, including education, health and sanitation, aimed at improving livelihoods in Bekwai and beyond.

He emphasised that while government has initiated these projects, their successful completion and impact will depend largely on the cooperation and support of citizens.

In the education sector, the MCE stated that a three-unit classroom block has been completed at Bosankor, ending a situation where pupils previously studied under trees.

He added that another three-unit classroom block fitted with water and toilet facilities is scheduled for commissioning next week at Bodoma.

The MCE further disclosed that the Assembly has also renovated the dining hall of Danyaseman Catholic Senior High School.

In the health sector, he noted that the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Bodoma is nearing completion and has reached the roofing stage.

To boost economic activity in the municipality, the MCE announced that the Assembly will cut sod for the construction of a 24-hour economy market at Anwiahnkwanta, one of the busiest communities in the municipality.

According to him, the market will include a fire service post, police post, a slaughterhouse and several sheds to accommodate traders.

In agriculture, he said nearly 10,000 birds have been distributed to over 200 farmers. He added that, due to high demand, the Assembly is considering using its Internally Generated Funds to extend support to more farmers.

On water, he revealed that the Assembly is using 10 per cent of its Common Fund to execute several projects, with ten mechanised boreholes nearing completion.

The MCE urged residents to unite behind the government to enable the full delivery of its mandate. He expressed confidence that by the end of the President’s term, every Ghanaian will have tangible projects to point to.
