Ghanaian singer, songwriter and creative visionary X Lor has officially unveiled his long-awaited debut EP, ‘Tornado,’ a seven-track project that marks a major milestone in his musical journey while formally introducing listeners to his signature genre, ABL (Angels Beyond Limitations).
Released on Friday, July 10, across all major streaming platforms, ‘Tornado’ is the product of years of artistic development, experimentation and self-discovery.
Through seven emotionally driven songs, the project explores the many dimensions of love, including devotion, forgiveness, loyalty, vulnerability, second chances, healing and commitment.
Describing the inspiration behind the EP, X Lor said the project represents the evolution of both his artistry and his sound.
“Tornado is a deeply personal body of work that showcases years of musical experimentation and growth, helping shape my own sound and genre, ABL. The EP explores themes of love, unconditional devotion, forgiveness, second chances, loyalty, and the beauty of choosing one person wholeheartedly.”
The opening track, ‘I Gotchu,’ sets the tone by encouraging listeners to trust love wholeheartedly despite uncertainty and emotional fear.
“It encourages listeners to let themselves be loved completely without fear, doubt, or emotional barriers. Even during times of uncertainty, you only need to give in to the unknown and trust that the universe will make it beautiful,” X Lor said.
‘Tornado’ celebrates romance, admiration and the beauty of melanin, while “By 7” captures the desire to hold on to love even during difficult moments.
‘They Nuh Fi Know’ explores intimacy and the value of keeping certain moments between two people, whereas ‘On My Mind’ highlights unwavering loyalty and the irreplaceable presence of a loved one.
The emotional intensity shifts on ‘Go Away,’ where X Lor reflects on the painful decision to leave a relationship for the sake of self-preservation.
The project concludes with ‘Till the End,’ an intimate record centred on passion, commitment and enduring affection.
According to the artist, Tornado is more than an ordinary music project.
“Tornado is a collection of emotions, experiences, and perspectives on love in its many forms—its beauty, its challenges, its sacrifices, and its lasting impact. This project was successfully brought to life through the Lord and higher spiritual forces. Physically, I was merely a vessel used to convey the message.”
X Lor also praised those who contributed to making the project a reality, giving special recognition to his Executive Manager.
“My team also did an incredible job, with my Executive Manager, Richard Boahene, playing a significant role in bringing this vision to life.”
Beyond the music itself, ‘Tornado’ serves as a showcase for ABL (Angels Beyond Limitations), the original genre X Lor developed after deciding that his music could not be confined to one traditional style.
The genre blends influences from Afrobeats, Highlife, R&B, Soul, Gospel and contemporary African music while promoting authenticity, spirituality, emotional honesty and creative freedom.
Since launching his professional career in 2018, X Lor has steadily built a reputation as one of Ghana’s emerging independent talents.
His single ‘By 7’ has accumulated more than 100,000 streams across digital platforms, while his songwriting portfolio includes work with Mya Sima, Naja and Whitnee Dee.
He has also contributed songwriting, vocal arrangements and vocal production assistance to acclaimed Ghanaian musicians Guru and Akan, and has shared performance stages with KiDi, Mr Drew and Coco Vanilla.
Away from the stage, X Lor has successfully balanced music with a thriving career in technology. A graduate of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), where he earned a degree in Information Technology with a specialisation in Database Administration, he currently works in the Cybersecurity Unit of GCB Bank PLC.
