Zoomlion Ghana Ltd has been recognized with two prestigious awards at the 8th Edition of the Health, Environment, Safety & Security (HESS) Awards 2026.

The company received the Waste Management & Recycling Facility Excellence Award 2026 and the Waste Management Innovation Award 2026, highlighting its leadership in delivering safe, responsible, and innovative waste management solutions across Ghana.

The awards ceremony was held in Accra under the theme “Beyond Compliance: Building Resilient Organizations Through Integrated HESS Excellence.”

Representing Zoomlion were Emil Amoah (Operations Manager), Ruth Juwena Bentie (People and Culture Manager, Performance Management), Kesha Owooh (Health & Safety Officer), and Mary Agyepomah-Kissi (Corporate Affairs Officer).

The delegation joined other industry leaders, dignitaries, and award-winning organizations at the event.

The HESS Awards honor organizations that go beyond regulatory requirements to set new standards in workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and security.

For Zoomlion, these awards are a reflection of the company’s daily commitment to improving lives, protecting employees, safeguarding communities, and advancing sustainable waste management nationwide.

Speaking after the presentation, Operations Manager Mr. Emil Amoah said: “Winning the Best Waste Management and Recycling Company and Best Waste Management Innovation Award is a significant milestone for Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

“These awards recognize our unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainable environmental management. They also reaffirm the confidence our stakeholders have in our services and our contribution to Ghana’s sanitation and environmental agenda.”

He added: “As an executive, it was a great honor to lead the delegation in receiving these awards on behalf of our dedicated workforce, including drivers and janitors. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our employees and motivates us to continue raising standards through innovation, operational excellence, and exceptional service delivery.”

The event also celebrated outstanding organizations from the manufacturing, energy, health, finance, logistics, and agribusiness sectors. Special guest of honor, Professor Jacob Paarechuga Anankware, Deputy CEO of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), congratulated the organizers for promoting excellence in HESS.

He noted that this year’s theme aligns with the EPA’s mandate and national development goals, and urged continued efforts in environmental stewardship and workplace safety. He also called for support in banning Styrofoam to protect the environment.

Another special guest, Sean Kingsley, Deputy Chief Inspector at the Department of Factory Inspectorate, emphasized the importance of integrating occupational health and safety into organizational culture. He referenced the International Labour Organization’s focus on psychosocial well-being and encouraged Ghanaian industries to move beyond compliance toward intentional safety practices.

Citing World Bank estimates, he warned that occupational health and safety lapses could cost up to 46% of GDP in low- and middle-income countries, and called for stronger government-industry collaboration to make safety a way of life.

At Zoomlion, excellence is driven by rigorous field safety protocols, regular equipment maintenance, proactive environmental impact management, and responsive client emergency support—efforts made possible by every team member. These awards bring that work to the national stage alongside other sector leaders.

The HESS Awards 2026, powered by the Innovating Global Safety Initiative and endorsed by the Republic of Ghana, the National Health Insurance Authority, and in partnership with HeFRA, continue to set the benchmark for integrated excellence.

The platform celebrates companies and individuals who make Health, Environment, Safety, and Security strategic priorities.

For Zoomlion, these wins are both an honor and a challenge to further strengthen its commitment to environmental sustainability, integrated waste management, and turning waste into valuable resources for Ghana.

From modern recycling facilities and fleet upgrades to community sanitation drives, frontline safety training, and waste-to-value innovations, the company remains focused on protecting people, preserving the environment, and building a cleaner, more resilient Ghana for generations to come.
