The Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly has announced that all is set to commence the government’s Agenda 111 projects in the area.

The announcement was made at a town hall meeting organized by the Assembly to discuss and inform relevant stakeholders about the implementation of various projects in the municipality.

The town hall meeting was part of the Assembly’s initiatives to engage and interact with residents on social and economic issues and to provide a platform for the citizenry to express their views and opinions on developmental projects within the Assembly’s jurisdiction.

The Slum Upgrading and Community Development Specialist at the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) Project, Joseph Ampadu-Boakye, stated that plans were underway to improve drainage infrastructure to mitigate the effects of flooding during heavy rainfall.

According to him, the Assembly is investing in the drainage infrastructure to construct several drains, which will also improve access roads.

“We are investing in the drainage infrastructure because the reason why these areas get flooded is that they don’t have local drains so we are constructing a number of drains. We are also looking at work on these drains, and access improvement because we have a lot of more instruments going along or located alongside major roads.”

The Municipal Physical Planning Officer, Baba Yakubu Mahama, also disclosed that the site for the government’s agenda 111 project has been handed over to the secretariat for work to commence.

The project, which is scheduled to take place at the current premise of the Nima clinic, has been cleared and handed over to the Agenda 111 secretariat and the contractor for work to commence.

“The Agenda 111 project, which is scheduled to take place at the current premise of the Nima clinic. The site has been acquired, the site has been cleared and has been handed over to the Agenda 111 secretariat and the contractor for work to commence. “
