GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited has refuted recent media reports alleging that the Aboso Glass Factory in Tarkwa, Western Region, was sold for GH₵8 million.

Kofi Jumah, Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, clarified that the company, which took over the factory in 2019, has no intention of selling the facility.

Instead, he revealed that efforts are underway to revitalize the plant, with plans to restart operations by 2025.

In an exclusive interview with Citi Business News, Jumah emphasized GIHOC’s commitment to strengthening the factory’s infrastructure and operational capacity. He dismissed the claims as baseless and misleading, urging the public to disregard them.

“One story that was in your sister station is that we sold over Aboso for 8 million cedis, that is a joke and anytime I hear comments like that I just laugh it off. And I don’t think attention should be given to that”.

“If people are gullible let them take it, but one thing is that, eventually we are going to have a huge Factory there we’ve spent a lot of resources and time, moving from Accra to Aboso alone is not easy”.

The Aboso Glass Factory, a key industrial asset in Ghana, has been dormant for several years.
