The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has launched investigations into reports of a large drug seizure in Australia allegedly linked to Ghana.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) intercepted approximately 320 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in a shipment and exported from Ghana to Australia.

In a statement issued on June 19, 2026, and signed by PNCO Francis Opoku Amoah, Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, NACOC said it had taken note of the development and has since commenced investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.

The Commission indicated that it is working closely with internal security agencies as well as international partners to identify, trace, and apprehend all individuals connected to the attempted trafficking operation.

“NACOC remains committed to strengthening international cooperation and ensuring that Ghana’s territory and commercial channels are not exploited by transnational drug trafficking networks,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, three people have been charged in Australia following the interception of the shipment which is worth an estimated A$296 million.
