The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has called on all political parties to accept the results of the upcoming December elections.

Chairperson Jean Mensa assured the public that robust measures have been implemented to guarantee the elections will be peaceful, free, fair, and transparent.

Speaking at the signing of the 4th Presidential Election Peace Pact in Accra on Thursday, November 28, she encouraged confidence in the electoral process, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a peaceful and stable environment during the polls.

Jean Mensa reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to promoting peace throughout the electoral process leading up to the 2024 general elections.

She expressed confidence in the EC’s ability to conduct a stable, violence-free election, and highlighted the Commission’s deliberate approach to transparency, fairness, and accountability in its operations. These efforts, she said, are crucial to building public trust and ensuring a credible election.

The EC Chairperson urged all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, and voters, to uphold peace and unity, ensuring a smooth and successful electoral process.

“As a commission, I am pleased to note that we have walked the talk of peace. Mindful of the fact that attaining peaceful electoral outcomes will depend on our actions.

“We have, right from the start of our electoral processes, consciously operated and conducted ourselves in a manner that will ensure peace before, during and after the elections,” she stated.
