Outgoing SIC MD allegedly locks office and leaves with keys

The immediate past Managing Director of SIC Insurance Company Limited, Ms. Hollistar Duah-Yentumi, has reportedly refused to hand over to the newly appointed Acting MD, Mr. James Agyenim-Boateng, weeks after his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama.

Reports indicate that Ms. Duah-Yentumi has not only declined to facilitate the transition but also locked the MD’s office and withheld the keys, making it inaccessible to the new acting MD.

On January 24, 2025, President Mahama appointed Mr. Agyenim-Boateng as Acting MD, replacing Ms. Duah-Yentumi, who had served under the previous NPP administration.

Agyenim-Boateng revealed on Citi Eyewitness News on Wednesday, February 5, that he visited SIC’s headquarters to formally introduce himself to management. However, Ms. Duah-Yentumi refused to attend the meeting, which typically serves as a platform for outgoing and incoming executives to ensure a smooth transition.

Despite formal expectations, the outgoing MD has yet to present her handover notes, exacerbating concerns among staff.

Agyenim-Boateng noted that “24th January 2025 I was named by his excellency the president. Subsequent to that I was in touch with the office and then I proceeded there. It must have been on a Thursday when I met with the management team.”

“…When I went there I had very good introductory meeting but it was obvious I could not access the office for which I needed to work and therefore for the most part I have worked offsite as in dealing with critical issues of SIC from off the office location”

“It as become apparent that the real difficulty regarding why I have not been able to access the office is because the person before me, the predecessor has actually locked up the offices and bolted with the keys. It is strange.

“As I speak to you I haven’t seen handing over notes of this outgone MD. I have see the handing notes of the MD before her.”
