National economic dialogue has value – Franklin Cudjoe

The President of Imani Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has defended the National Economic Dialogue, emphasizing its importance in addressing Ghana’s economic challenges and shaping initiatives for sustainable growth.

According to him, the dialogue provides a valuable platform for leaders to update the public on the country’s economic difficulties and outline potential solutions.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s “The Big Issue” Programme on Saturday, March 8, he noted that keeping citizens informed about the government’s next steps fosters hope and reassures them that their welfare remains a priority.

Highlighting the significance of the National Economic Dialogue, Cudjoe referenced the Senchi Economic Forum, stressing that the solutions generated from the forum played a crucial role in shaping Ghana’s economic recovery strategies.

“The last dialogue that the NDC had not because I was part of it but because I saw real value and reason. The homegrown solutions adopted from the Senchi Forum actually fed into the IMF program we had. Yet, my good friends in the NPP dismissed it after making fantastic claims that they were going to implement public sector reforms.”

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the National Economic Dialogue, Dr. Ishmael Yamson, has stated that most of Ghana’s economic challenges are self-inflicted.

He cautioned that the journey to resetting Ghana’s economy, as promised by President John Dramani Mahama, would not be an easy task and urged Ghanaians to remain patient and committed to the necessary reforms.
