The National Identification Authority (NIA) has strongly condemned alleged corrupt practices by its staff during the Ghana Card registration process.

This follows allegations from applicants regarding misconduct by certain NIA employees.

In a statement dated March 18, 2025, the NIA labeled such behaviours as unlawful and unethical, assuring the public that all complaints would be thoroughly investigated, with appropriate legal actions to follow.

“Management wishes to inform the public that allegations have been made regarding certain staff members’ involvement in extortion and solicitation of unauthorized benefits and gifts from applicants seeking registration and related services. This behaviour is unlawful, unethical and a direct violation of public service principles,” the NIA condemned.

The NIA emphasized its commitment to maintaining public trust and ensuring that all applicants receive services in a fair, transparent, and ethical manner.

The Authority also urged the public to report any instances of misconduct, extortion, or unethical behaviour by its staff.
